Mac vs PC

1) Are you upgrading from a previous computer?

Changing platforms can present a bit of a learning curve. If you’re already comfortable with a particular type of computer, it can be easier to just stick with the same one. Transferring data from a Mac to a Mac or a PC to a PC can be a bit easier than crossing between machines, but it’s not too much of a hassle anymore to transfer data between the two. It can be a little problematic for a PC to read Mac data, but Macs generally read PC data just fine.
If your computer isn’t very old, keeping the same platform can be desirable so that you can use the programs you’ve already purchased. If, however, it’s been several years since your last upgrade, new software is likely to be in order anyway. A common myth is that there isn’t as much software available for the Mac as there is for the PC. While strictly true, there is so much software available for both platforms that it isn’t likely to make a significant difference (with games being the possible exception).
